Repairs charged @ R575.00 per hour, with a minimum charge of R300.00
Emergency Repairs:
Done while you wait, re-straightening, re-alignment to bent keys, re-seating pads, replacement of spring, etc. charged @ R720.00 per hour.
NB. The prices below are a rough guide. An accurate estimate will be given once the instrument is assessed and work will commence once approved.
Maintenance Service:
Entails the removal of all working parts, rotary valves and tuning slides. Clean, wash and remove all corrosion inside all tubes, valves, valve casing and slides. Attend to any minor repairs. Re-string rotary valves/regulate and re-set rotary valve levers. Assemble and lubricate.
Single French Horns: R1,500.00 – R1,800.00
Double French Horns: R2,000.00 – R2,500.00
Major Service:
Undertaking of all necessary major repairs i.e. Loosen stuck rotary valves, re-straightening tubes and re-soldering of any loose stays, braces and tubes. Loosen stuck tuning slides. Remove all dents. Detect any leaks. Complete valve work and hand lapping for a smooth valve action. Replace rubber stoppers. Re-string rotary valves/regulate and re-set rotary valve levers and lubricate all working parts.
Restore instrument to a good playing condition.
Single French Horns: R2,500 – R3,500
Double French Horns: R2,500 – R4,500
Complete Overhaul, Silver plating & Re-lacquer:
Complete stripping of instrument. Remove of all dents and undertake all major repairs. Replace all missing parts. Re-surfacing of metal to high polish finish. Silver plating or lacquering. Rebuilding of valves – copper plating, nickel plating etc.
Quotations for these specialized jobs will be given on examination of your instrument.
NB. Replacement of missing parts is not included and would need to be quoted on.
