Since 1982, Gonzalez has been making reeds from cane grown on their family plantation at the foot of the Andes mountains. In addition to their deep commitments to the environment, the Gonzalez family prioritises quality by choosing only the best raw material and manufacture using the latest technologies. Gonzalez use traditional methods to harvest the cane and it is carefully and slowly dried and prepared for use. This extra time allows the internal fibres of the cane to mature properly and ensures a consistent and long lasting reed.
The Gonzalez FOF have proved popular with both professional and advanced players. They are American unfiled reeds, have a thickish tip and actually a thick heart as well. Because of this design they give a strong, rich, dark sound but do come up feeling harder than you may be used to.
